How To Enjoy Autumn Breaks in North Wales

79

For many people autumn can seem a bit of an anti-climax, summer is over and with it the long holidays and it’s back to school, work and the daily routine, whilst Christmas can still seem so far off. The weather doesn’t help either with the days getting colder, and wetter, and the evening getting darker earlier; it can all seem a little depressing. But, autumn is a beautiful time of year, the wonderful colours of nature as the leaves change colour on the trees, the crisp cool air of an autumnal morning and of course the chance to indulge in a steaming mug of hot chocolate curled up with a good book or film in the evenings.

Autumn is also a wonderful time to get away from it all with a short break; a chance to relax before you get started on all that Christmas preparation that will be here before you know it. And North Wales is the perfect place to visit, plenty of countryside to explore, beaches to walk along and many places to visit. So why not book yourself a short break on a North Wales caravan park, and see what Wales has to offer during the autumn, you won’t be disappointed.

Weather

It goes without saying that the weather in North Wales, in fact most of the UK, can be rather unpredictable at any time of the year, but autumn can be particularly quirky. It is not unheard of to have some wonderful sunny days in autumn that could find you wearing t-shirts and ditching your woolly jumper. Having said that if you are planning an autumn break in North Wales it really is a good idea to pack for all types of weather; t-shirts, woolly jumpers, waterproofs could all be very necessary. Plan layers so that you can add more or remove something depending on the weather, you should also consider packing your wellies, a couple of umbrellas and of course your sunglasses!

The Great Outdoors

Autumn can be a great time to explore the countryside, and Wales has plenty of very varied scenery for you to choose from. The weather shouldn’t be too hot or too cold, the only thing you might have to contend with will be a little rain. With the autumnal colours just beginning to reach their best you should be able to get some stunning views from one of the many mountain walks that are available to you, and being autumn there may not be the crowds that you get in the summer so it will be a little bit more tranquil.

If you are feeling brave then there are also plenty of stunning beaches, wrap up warmly and take a stroll along the sands, it’s a great way to unwind and completely relax, just the sound of the waves on the beach and maybe a few gulls overhead for company.

If you have an interest in wildlife then many birds and animals winter in Wales so the autumn is a perfect time to see quite a few of them.

Evenings

If you are staying in a caravan then it is worth remembering that in autumn it is likely that the evenings will turn rather chilly, so make sure that you have your winter pyjamas and some blankets just in case. Of course, the cooler weather will give you the perfect opportunity to sample local dishes in some of the many small Inns that you will find all over the place. And don’t forget to stock up on hot chocolate for those cooler evenings as well; hot chocolate is also the perfect accompaniment to the pitter patter of raindrops on a caravan roof.

There’s no reason not to have an autumnal break this year – especially as the prices are so much lower than in Summer, and you may find you prefer breaks at this time of year without the queues, too-warm weather and crowds.
